Mrs. Janice Wright Parkinson Bowen, age 72, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2015. She was born on January 17, 1943 in Cedartown, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late J. L. "Jay" Wright and Mildred Mozelle Collins Wright.

Mrs. Bowen graduated Cedartown High School in 1961. She worked over 30 years as a school nutrition manager at Pepperell Middle School and McHenry Elementary. She was a devoted church member to her Sunday School Class and taught for seven years and was a faithful servant of a loving God and Savior. She was a wonderful singer and piano player for McFall Baptist Church, East Rome Baptist Church and most recently Worldview Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bowen is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Bowen; son, Mark Parkinson; daughter and son-in-law, Zelle Parkinson Chandler and Ryan; granddaughters, Addie Chandler and Ellie Chandler; brothers and sister-in-laws, Jimmy and Anne Wright and Jerry and Annette Wright; aunts, Mary Collins and Daisy Tharp; uncle, Hershel Wright and lifelong friend, Joan Corn.

Mrs. Bowen is preceded in death by her parents and loving aunts, uncles and grandparents.

The funeral service for Mrs. Bowen will be conducted on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at three o'clock in the afternoon in the Gammage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry McCullough, Rev. Wayne Benefield, Colonel (Ret) Larry Odom and Mr. Mark Parkinson officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery with Rev. Dewey Atchley.

The family of Mrs. Bowen will receive family and friends on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 from 6:00pm till 8:00pm at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Tony Wright, Morris Collins, Jr., Jimmy Morris Wright, Ryan Chandler, Neil Corn, Mark Parkinson and Scott Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be: Stella Roberts Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and the Floyd County School Nutrition Staff.
