Mr. James Eugene "Gene" Sorrells, age 85, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020.  He was born on September 11, 1934 in Cedartown.  He was the son of the late Judson Andrew and Jessie Elizabeth Lockridge Sorrells.

Mr. Sorrells is survived by his wife, Nancy Lott Sorrells; daughter, Zan Hooper (Bob); son, Joey Sorrells (Cristy); grandchildren, Jeremy, Luke, Macie, Judson, Asa and Cole; great-grandchildren, Gatlin, Ava and Bradley; and special friend, "Bubba".

Mr. Sorrells is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Alice Thacker.

A graveside service for Mr. James Eugene "Gene" Sorrells will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at eleven o'clock in the morning in the family plot of Northview Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Mr. Yancey Moore officiating.  Rockmart Honor Guard will be conducting Full Military Rites.

The family of Mr. Sorrells will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 15, 2020 from ten o'clock in the morning until the graveside hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers are to be omitted and donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers:  Joey Sorrells, Bob Hooper, Jeremy Hooper, Luke Hooper, Asa Sorrells, and Jarrod Thornton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Corporal Judson Sorrells, Bobby McElwee, Scotty McElwee, and National Guard members Gene served with.
