Mr. James (Jim) Sewell Bowen, age 79 of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015. He was born on April 25, 1936. He was the son of the late James Alvin Bowen and Mattie Lidell Johnson Bowen.

Mr. Bowen is retired from Bekaert Steel Company. He was a serviceman in the United States Navy, and a past member of Rome American Legion Post 5.

Mr. Bowen is survived by his stepdaughter and son-in-law, Zelle Parkinson Chandler and Ryan Chandler; stepson, Mark Parkinson; granddaughters, Addie Chandler and Ellie Chandler; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George Henderson, Jimmy Wright (Anne), and Jerry Wright (Annette); a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Bowen is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Wright Bowen; parents; sisters, Sue Henderson, Norma Wadsworth, and Bobbie Nell Bell; brothers, Roger Bowen and Billy Bowen.

A graveside service for Mr. James (Jim) Sewell Bowen will be conducted on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at three o'clock in the afternoon in the Northview Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating, with Full Military Rites being conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post 86.

The family of Mr. Bowen will receive family and friends on Sunday, October 4, 2015 from two o'clock in the afternoon until the graveside hour at the Gammage Funeral Home. The family is also receiving family and friends at 33 Summerwind Drive in Cedartown.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post 86.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. James (Jim) Sewell Bowen.
