Mr. James Jabez Hampton, age 87, of Cedartown passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008. He was born January 2, 1921 in Polk County.
Family members surviving are wife, Lena Swindall Hampton; daughters, JoAnn Maxwell and Jackie Faye Hampton; sister, Katherine Maiden; and brother, Julius Hampton. Eight Grandchildren and Nine Great Grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Hampton is predeceased by his parents, Clifford W. Hampton and Gertrude Knight Hampton; sons, Thomas James Hampton and David Franklin Hampton; sisters, Evelyn Lamb and Ann Burkhalter Sparks; and brothers, Thomas Hampton and William Hampton.
The funeral service for Mr. James Jabez Hampton will be conducted on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley View Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Martin and Rev. James Rosser officiating.
Interment will follow in Lee's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Seals Glenn, Dennis Burkhalter, George Knight, Memory Galloway, William Knight, Dennis Boyd, and Wayne Maiden.
Honorary Pallbearers are J.J. Jackson, Dewayne Roberson, Jeff Crawford, and Patrick Eaton.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 21, from 6:00 until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
