Mr. James William "Dub" Daniel, age 90, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Monday, February 1, 2010. He was born April 2, 1919 in Carrollton, Georgia, the son of the late John Wesley Daniel and Marion Florida Samples Daniel. He is also preceded in death by wife of sixty-three years, Madeleine "Pid" Bradshaw Daniel; sister, Christine Coker; and great-grandson, John Ray Bowling.

Mr. Daniel was a retired Railroad Engineer with forty-two years of service from Southern Railway. He was the first elected president of Polk County Saddle Club, founding member and officer of Lookout Mountain Beagle Club, a member of the American Kennel Club and the American Quarter Horse Association and a past member of the American Walking Horse Association.

He was a veteran of the United States National Guard.

Mr. Daniel was a proud member of the Cedartown High School Class of 1937.

Mr. J. W. "Dub" Daniel is survived by children, Patty McDonald Eldridge and Sandy Daniel; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Melba Cochran. Also surviving is his cherished, canine companion, "Spike".

The funeral service for Mr. James William "Dub" Daniel will be conducted on Thursday, February 4th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Russell officiating. Mr. Sandy Daniel and Mrs. Rhonda Culp to deliver the eulogy, Mrs. Robbin Bowling and Mrs. Angie Cook will read Scripture, and Dan Wolf of the Quila Indian Tribe will give special remarks.

The committal service will be at Northview Cemetery, Cedartown. Pallbearers are Gordon Miller, Allen Summerville, Roth Yancey, Brent Yancey, Rick Dempsey, Glenn Sorrells, Chan McDonald and Todd Daniel.

Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Heath, Larry Galloway, B. R. Perry, Joe Daniel Brock, Billy Croker, David Daniel and members of Cedartown High School Class of 1937, and past and present employees of Southern Railway.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 3rd, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home. All other times they can be contacted at the home of daughter, Patty Eldridge, 132 Virginia Circle, Cedartown.
