Obituary

Mr. James Julian Carter, Sr., Age 84, of Cedartown passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2005. Mr. Carter was born on June 13, 1921 in Rome, GA. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in two tours of duty in World War II. He was retired from the Colonial/Big Star Corporation.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Moore and William Scott Carter.

He is survived by a Wife, Glenora McKelvey Carter; a Son and Daughter-in-Law, James J. Carter, Jr. and Kathy F. Carter; 2 Granddaughters, Cristen Carter Story and Kelly Carter Shumate; 2 Great Grandchildren, James Llewellyn Story IV and Sophia Kathlene Shumate. Also surviving are a Brother and Sister-in-Law, John Lewis and Betty Jean Carter.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2005 from 1:00PM until 2:30PM at the First United Methodist Church of Cedartown.

The funeral service for Mr. James Julian Carter, Sr. will be conducted on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 2:30PM at the First United Methodist Church of Cedartown with the Rev. Don Underwood and Rev. Britt Brown Madden, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens. Military Rites will be conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland Post #86 Honor Guard.

Pallbearers are James Llewellyn Story, III; Christopher Michael Shumate; Paul Mark Pitkins; Gary Clayton; Patrick Douglas McNally; Sammy Timmons and Dennis Keith Wright. Honorary Pallbearer, Patrick Francis McNally.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. James Julian Carter, Sr.
