Mr.James H. (Bud) Ryder peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, October 8, 2014. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 11, 1928 and was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Leola Ryder and a sister, Audrey Jones.

Bud was a Christian and a member of Gardendale's First Baptist Church. He was an active member of his community where he was a member of Gardendale Masonic Lodge #907 and Gardendale Chapter #531 Order of The Eastern Star. He worked hard to help his family as well as his neighbors.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mary Grace Merritt Ryder; daughters, Pattie Ray (Ivan), Kathy Duncan(Marc) and son, Larry (Sharon); six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren who lovingly knew him as Paw.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Heyman Hospice of Cedartown, GA and especially Nurse Shirley. Also, our special love and thanks to Ms. Katrina for your love and care during these past weeks. Words cannot express our love and gratitude for all of the prayers and acts of kindness shown by our many friends during this journey.

Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Gardendale First Baptist Church, South Campus with the service Friday, Oct. 10, at 1 p.m. at Gardendale First Baptist Church, South Campus. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the "Camp David" fund, C/O Gardendale's First Baptist Church, 940 Main St., Gardendale, AL 35071.
