Obituary

Jacob Steve Rice, age 14, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011. He was born on October 13, 1997 in Rome, GA. Jacob was the son of Mr. George Steven Rice and Mrs. Angela Kay Cosby Maiden.

Jacob was an eighth grade student at Cedartown Middle School where he had many beloved friends. He had a contagious smile and a great since of humor. He enjoyed playing baseball, hunting and fishing.

Jacob is survived by his parents; step-mother, Jamie Rice; step-father, Wayne Maiden; brothers, Andrew Rice, Kail Maiden and Reed Maiden sisters, Raylee Rice, Chloe Rice, Lauren Maiden and Jenna Maiden; grandparents, Elaine Rice, Joy and Joe Brown and Ricky Cosby and great-grandmothers, Eugenia Lorrens and Ruthie Sumlar.

Jacob is preceded in death by his brother and sister, Brenton and Cathleen Rice; grandfather, Steve Rice; great-grandparents, George Rice, Charles "C.W." Lee and Estelle Rice.

The funeral arrangements for Jacob will be conducted on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Robinson and Rev. Brent Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the New Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.

The family of Jacob Rice will receive family and friends on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family has requested that flowers please be omitted and donations please be made to the SunTrust Bank (Cedartown Branch) Memorial Fund for Jacob Rice.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers; Cody Mesta, Travis Ragsdale, Jimmy Benefield, Leo Conring, Timmy Brookshire and Barry Rice. Honorary pallbearer will be Jacob Benefield.
