Jack David Nichols, Sr., age 81, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Friday, January 7, 2011. He was born April 21, 1929 in Rockmart, Georgia, to the late Henry Grady Nichols and Katie Mae York Nichols.
"Black Jack", as he was known by his close friends, retired from Southern Railroad as an engineer and he proudly served in the Georgia National Guard for 12 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Malline Fay Roberson Nichols; both parents, as well as his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by daughters, Cindy Posey and Patti Nichols; son, David Nichols; twelve grand children; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
The funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011 in the chapel of Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Sammy Stephens officiating. A private interment for the family will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 8, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Gammage Funeral Home.
