Mr. Jack Evans, age 77, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010. He was born May 16, 1932 in Polk County, the son of James Frank Evans and Mae Bright Evans McAdams (both deceased).

Jack and his parents were owners of Evans Drive-In, a popular eating establishment during the 1950's, located on South Main Street in Cedartown.

Mr. Evans was retired from General Electric and a veteran of the United States Navy.

Mr. Evans was a member of the American Legion with fifty-five years of service. He served as Past Commander of the Seventh District, Past Commander of Post #86, and a Charter Member, with over fifty years service, to the Post Honor Guard.

Mr. Jack Evans is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Mildred Burnham Evans; a son and daughter-in-law, Tybee L. and Denise Evans and granddaughter, Sanibel Evans, a sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and Donald Ingram, and several Nieces and Nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. Jack Evans will be conducted on Saturday, March 6th, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. David Taylor officiating.

Following the funeral service full military rites will be conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 5th, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 101 North College St., Cedartown, GA 30125.
