Obituary

Mr. J. C. Cox, age 81, of Cedartown passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2009. He was born September 18, 1927 in Cherokee County, Georgia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Cox.

Mr. Cox was a United States Army veteran serving during World War II. He retired from Rome Plow as a machinist.

Mr. J. C. Cox is survived by wife of forty-four years, Carolyn McWhorter Cox; daughters, Barbara Carroll and Carol Terrell; sons, Don Cox of Buchanan, Jason Cox, Brian Cox, Justin Cox all of Cedartown. Eight Grandchildren and Six Great-Grandchildren also survive.

He is preceded in death by parents, Willie and Velvie Johnson Cox; sisters, Ruby Lyle Edmonds, Brenda Marie Maxwell, brothers, Joe Cox, Gerald Cox, and Clifford Bo Cox.

The funeral for Mr. J. C. Cox will be conducted on Saturday, April 11th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Timms officiating. The interment will follow in the Center Baptist Church Cemetery, Felton, Georgia. The Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86 Honor Guard will conduct full military rites.

Pallbearers are Jason O'Neal, Ralph Smith, Eddie Jimenez, Stanley Hopkins, Jeremiah McWhorter, and Mike Purcell.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 10th, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. J. C. Cox.
