Mrs. Irene Shaw Summerville Green, age 76, passed away on Monday, August 20, 2007 at her residence. She was born October 12, 1930 to parents the late Mr. Eli Shaw and Mrs. Ida Wilson Shaw.

She was a member of Benedict Baptist Church belonging to the Benedict Ladies W.M.U. and Ladies Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Polk County Senior Choir. Mrs. Green was a retired nurse.

Mrs. Irene Shaw Summerville Green is preceded in death by her first husband, Mr. Hubert Summerville; her second husband, Mr. Carl Green; sons, Wayne Summerville, and Steve Summerville; brothers, James Shaw and Hugh Shaw.

She is survived by children, Teresa Abney of Rome, Randy and wife Ramonda Summerville, Dennis and wife Lillie Summerville; step-children, Carolyn and husband Harold Tanner, Crandle and wife Bettie Green, Bobby and wife Nelda Green all of Cedartown; sisters, Sara White of Silver Creek, Grace Blake and Estelle Henderson both of Cedartown; brother, Charles Shaw of Cedartown. Nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grand children also survive.

The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Youngs Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Chambers, Rev. Earl Partain and Rev. Keith Arp officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 22, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Brian Summerville, Jamie Abney, Adron Jefferson, Shane Hudgins, Ricky Shaw, Dwayne Short, Russ Shaw and Joshua Jefferson.
