Hubert Brooks Willingham's Obituary
Mr. Hubert Brooks Willingham, age 85, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2008. He was born December 10, 1922, one of fourteen children to the late Mr. and Mrs. George Willingham.
Mr. Willingham was a veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a retiree after thirty-five years of service as Office Manager with Georgia Power.
Mr. Willingham was a member of The First Baptist Church of Cedartown.
He was a member of the American Legion Brewster-Cleveland Post #86. Mr. Willingham was also a member of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge #121, the Cedar Valley Shrine Club, and the Yaarab Shrine where in earlier years was a member of the Shrine's Mounted Patrol.
Family survivors include wife, Edith Glenn Willingham; daughter and son-in-law, Patsi and Benny Williamon; step-sons, Mike Whitfield and his wife, Renee Whitfield and Glenn Whitfield; sisters, Katherine Stroud and Nellie Payne. Grandchildren, Dana and husband Ray Offenbacker, Lisa Williamon; Mitch and wife Tamara Williamon; and Brian Whitfield; great-grandchildren Riley Offenbacker, Tyler Offenbacker and Hunter Williamon also survive.
Mr. Willingham is preceded in death by parents, George Willingham and Lula Brown Willingham and eleven brothers and sisters.
The funeral service for Mr. Hubert Brooks Willingham will be conducted on Saturday, November 8, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Dr. David Taylor officiating with Mrs. Patsi Williamon giving the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Mozley Memorial Gardens in Lithia Springs with Rev. Bob Holcomb officiating
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 7, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Nobles Lee Williams, Elbert Knight, Jerry Tracy, Kenneth Mattox, Joe Pegg, and Larry Gore.
Special escorts are great-grandson, Master Riley Offenbacker and beloved friend, Noble Pete Glenn. Honorary escorts are the Shriners and Shrinettes of the Cedar Valley Shrine Club.
The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted. Donations may be made to The Shriners' Hospital for Children, % The Cedar Valley Shrine Club #7, P. O. Box 183, Cedartown, GA 30125.
