Mr. Hubert L. Collins, age 79, of Anniston, AL, formerly of Cedartown passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. He was born December 20, 1928.
Mr. Collins was a native of Cherokee County, AL but grew up in Cedartown and has resided in Calhoun County, AL since 1959. He served in the United States Navy for four years and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Tape Craft after thirty-seven years of service.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Mary Collins of Anniston; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Heather Collins of Centre, AL; sister, Mozzele Wright of Cedartown and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by parents, Thomas and Essie Collins; brother, Morris Collins; sister, Marion Truitt.
Graveside service for Mr. Hubert L. Collins will be conducted on Friday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. Harold Payne officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Navy Funeral Honors Burial Detail from Jacksonville, FL Naval Base and Brewster-Cleveland Post #86 of the American Legion Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 12, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) at Miller Funeral Home and Crematory in Oxford, AL. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, November 13, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. (E.S.T) at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.
