Mr. Henry Horace Astin, age 81, of Cedartown passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010. He was born May 26, 1928 in Cedartown, the son of John & Ruby McEver Astin (both deceased).

Besides his parents, Mr. Astin is preceded in death by sisters, Kay Shifflett, Elizabeth Sutton, and brothers, Charlie Astin, Howard McEver, Alva Astin, Boyd Astin, Guy Astin, Frank Astin, Lewis Astin, and Hugh Astin.

Mr. Henry Horace Astin is survived by wife, Earlene Drummond Astin; daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Keith Jones; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Kay Astin and Phil and Paula Astin. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Alan Astin, Eric Astin, Lindsey Mathis, Jeremy Jones, Deric Jones, Zach Jones, Cory Jones, Ashley Smith, and Jonathan Astin and six great-grandchildren, Garrett Mathis, Rylee Mathis, Monigan Astin, Madalyn Astin, McKenzie Astin, and Kadince Oxenrider. Mr. Astin also has one sister, Faye Cockrum and one brother, J.C. Astin that also survive.

The funeral for Mr. Astin will be conducted on Monday, April 5th at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Smith, Dr. James Guy, Rev. "Bud" Davis, and Rev. Chris Hearne officiating. Mr. Astin will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Interment will be in Oakgrove Cemetery. Pallbearers are Alan Astin, Eric Astin, Jeremy Jones, Deric Jones, Zach Jones, Cory Jones, and Jonathan Astin.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 4th from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.
