Rev. Grady Tommie Welch, age 81, of Ellijay, Georgia, formerly of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009. He was born July 8, 1927, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Welch.
Rev. Welch was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He was also a retired truck driver from Hamby Trucking Company.
Rev. Grady Tommie Welch is preceded in death by parents, Tommie and Monnie Colbert Welch and son, Roger Cochran.
Family members surviving are wife, Doris Lucille Coleman Welch; sons and daughters-in-law, Leon Goble and Melinda, Edwin Goble and Brenda; sister, Alice McDaniel; brother, Bennie Welch; daughter-in-law, Vera Cochran. Nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; a number of Nieces and Nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Rev. Grady Tommie Welch will be conducted on Wednesday, January 7, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. R. B. Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery. The presentation of the United States Flag will be carried out by the American Legion Brewster-Cleveland Post #86 Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Richard Seymore, S. L. Keith, Jason Abercrombie, Evan Seymore, Jacob Abercrombie, Austin Blakley, and Tim Cochran. Honorary pallbearers are Audie Abercrombie, Allen McCollum, Cole Cochran, Christopher Buttram, Justin Carder, Tim Mitchell, and Grayson Buttram.
