Mrs. Gertrude Irene McWhorter Welchel, age 83 of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. She was born on March 27, 1940 in Cedartown, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Josephine Palmer McWhorter.

Mrs. Welchel is survived by her daughter, Beverly Kay Stephens; son, Edward Allen Welchel; sister, Frances Mobbs; grandchildren, Justin and Jennifer Golden, Tiffany Golden and Eugene Roos; great-grandchildren, Ava, Makayla, Jovie, Seamus, Charlotte, Sidney, Finnegan, and Gabriella; and nieces and nephews, Debi Beckman (Bruce), JoAnn Ackley (Jim Tantillo), Polly Hopkins (Stanley), Pamela O'Neal (Tracy), and Kevin Mobbs (Selena).

Mrs. Welchel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Robert Welchel; daughter, Bonita Joy Welchel; sister, Charlotte Earley (Bobby); and brother-in-law, John L. Mobbs.

A memorial service for Mrs. Gertrude Irene Welchel will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at five o'clock in the afternoon from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home.

The family of Mrs. Welchel will receive family and friends from four o'clock in the afternoon until the service hour at Gammage Funeral Home.
