Ms. Gertrude Watson Shelstead, age 85, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born on February 11, 1938 in Cedartown, to the late Albert Watson and Mary Hendrix Watson.

Ms. Shelstead loved country music, beautiful flowers and long walks. She was loved by her family and friends and will be so missed.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Shelstead was preceded in death by her brothers, Wiley Watson, Sr. and Elton Watson.

She is survived by her three daughters, Wanda Baggett (Merritt), Carol Appley (Gary) and Lisa Green. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Alan Appley, April Beck, Anthony Baggett, T.K. Baggett, Chris Baggett, Crystal Norton, Clay Crowe, and Noah Crowe. She is additionally survived by her siblings, Jean Evans, Rachel Witt, Irene Wells (Terry), Elaine Shaw (Wayne) and Edward Watson; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral arrangements for Ms. Shelstead will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Byars officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Ms. Shelstead will receive family and friends on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Alan Appley, Mason Appley, Marty Evans, Anthony Baggett, Thomas Baggett, Eric Shaw, and Casey Wells.

Flowers are being accepted; however, donations can also be made to the funeral home to help assist with the funeral cost.
