Mr. George W. Smith, age 82, of Sarasota, Florida died Monday, May 18, 2009. He was born September 12, 1927.

Survivors include wife, Rosemary Smith; sons, Duane Smith of Cedartown; Steven Smith of Sarasota and Richard Smith of Bradenton, Florida; daughter, Roseanna Goodman of South Pasadena, Florida; brothers, Billy Smith of Rome, Melvin Smith of Bradenton and Mike Smith of Cedartown; sisters, Katherine Short, Shirley Dowdy and Betty Smith all of Cedartown, Edna Stephens of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Bonnie Laminack of Muscadine, Alabama. Fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

Visitation will be Friday, May 22, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Sarasota. Services will be Saturday, May 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church with a burial immediately following at Palms Memorial Park in Sarasota.

Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
