Mr. George Anderson Rice, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. He was born on January 23, 1914 in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Charles "Doc" Anderson and Lector Campbell Rice. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Minnie Estelle Coleman Rice; sisters , Minnie Robinson, Alice Croker, Mary Lee Hill, Nellie Daniel; brothers, Dewey Rice, Tom Rice, Roy Rice, John Rice.

Mr. Rice was one of the original founding members of Faith Baptist Church where he was still a beloved member.

Revelations 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Mr. Rice is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and David Hatch, Rita and Danny Lester; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Elaine Rice; sisters, Lucille Partridge, Louise Hurst; brother and sister-in-law, Newt and Maxi Rice. Also surviving are grandchildren, Cregg Hatch, Lee Hatch, Richie Hatch, Michael Hatch, Michelle Mobley, Steven Rice, Gary Bradshaw, and Amy Lester; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mr. George Anderson Rice will be conducted on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Faith Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Tucker and Rev. Randy Stephens officiating. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 – 2:00.

Interment will be in New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 14th, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Barry Rice, Wendell Rice, Billy Croker, David Coleman, David Willingham, Mike Rice, Greg Shelley, and Greg Swafford.
