Mr. Gary Bruce Hackney, 62, of 301 Davis Loop NE, Rome passed away at Redmond Regional Hospital Thursday, April 18, 2013.
Mr. Hackney was born December 17, 1950 in Cedartown son of Edward Bruce Hackney and the late Mary Ivie Hackney. He was a graduate of Georgia Tech and an award winning Skeet Shooter. He was an active member of Enon Baptist Church where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and working in various other ministries. He will be remembered for his analytical mind, excellent craftsmanship in designing and making gun stocks, and being a charter member of the Board of Sound of the Trumpet Ministries. His wisdom and foresight will continue to impact us and future generations.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Puckett Hackney, Rome; three children, Jennifer Hackney Moss and her husband, Drew, Rome, Andrew J. Hackney, Rutledge, Richard "Ric" Wright and his wife, Ginger Myers Wright, Cedartown; his father, Edward Bruce Hackney, Cedartown; three grandchildren, Avery and Tucker Wright and Mary-Leonard Moss; numerous cousins and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at Enon Baptist Church on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. with Reverend Larry Draper, Reverend Ken Hinkely, Reverend Mark Cosby and Reverend Bill Landers officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. At other times they may be reached at their respective residence.
Henderson and Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel and Crematory has charge of the celebration arrangements.
