Mr. Freddie Wayne Gowens, age 67 of Cedartown, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2013. He was born on September 28, 1945 in Polk County to the late Troy Roland and Pearl Irene Watson Gowens.
Mr. Gowens was a veteran of the United States Army, where he was ranked CWO2. He was awarded the bronze star and the distinguished flying cross and was a pilot of the helicopter gunner ship. Freddie worked and owned Freddie's Body Shop for 25 years and was currently the owner of Signs and More.
Mr. Gowens is survived by his wife, Earline Allen Gowens; sons, Professor Greg Gowens of Carrollton, GA and Joe Jeffers of Cedartown, GA; daughter, Juanita Gribble of California; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Gowens is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Margaret G. Frawley.
In keeping with Mr. Gowens wishes he was cremated. A memorial service for Mr. Gowens will be conducted on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at two o'clock in the afternoon at the American Legion Post 86. Eulogies will be giving by Mr. Gowens friends.
