Frank Lamar Casey's Obituary
Mr. Frank Lamar Casey, age 93 of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2013. He was born on December 16, 1919 in Cave Spring, Georgia. He was the son of the late Andrew James Casey, Sr. and Beulah Ellis Casey.
Mr. Casey graduated from Cave Spring High School and attended West Georgia College until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1942. As a highly-decorated World War II bomber pilot, he was awarded 17 medals including the Silver Star and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Mr. Casey is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Carol Casey and Rosemary Jernigan and John Jernigan; four grandchildren, Caroline Martin Mauro and husband, Bob, Jim Martin and wife, Anna Ward, Casey Jernigan King and husband, Andy and John Jernigan IV and wife, Elizabeth; six great grandchildren and sister, Sara Lucille Lecklider.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 58 years, Betty Ann Morgan Casey; brothers, Earl Ellis Casey and Andrew James Casey, Jr. and sister, Katharine Martha Casey.
The funeral service for Mr. Frank Lamar Casey will be conducted on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at eleven o'clock in the morning in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Dr. David Taylor, Mr. Earl Casey, Mr. Mike McRae and Mr. Jerry Ogle officiating. Interment will follow in the Cave Spring Cemetery with Military Rites.
The Casey family will receive family and friends in the Parlor of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 from ten o'clock in the morning until the funeral hour.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Bill Andrew, Chip Barrow, John Brewster, Terry Caldwell, Tom Gaither, Millard Greer, Larry Kuglar and Jim Reed. Honorary pallbearers: Doc Ayers, John Burkart, Red Caldwell, Jesse Clements, Horace Cline, John Garner, Fairfax Mullen, Jule Peek and Dr. Jerry Weaver.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a memorial be made to the Cedartown First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 101 North College Street, Cedartown, GA 30125 or First Baptist Church of Cave Spring Youth Program, P.O. Box 327, Cave Spring, GA 30124.
The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Frank Lamar Casey.
