Mrs. Evelyn F. Shackelford, 87, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Friday, November 30, 2007 at Polk Medical Center.

Mrs. Shackelford was born January 3, 1920 in Cedartown, Georgia, daughter of the late Walter Brooks and Ottie Mae Williams Brooks and stepmother, Grace Brooks. She was a well-known seamstress for many years and a member of Southside Baptist Church where she belonged to the Senior Adults Sunday School Class. She never met a stranger and always made others feel at home. We will miss her smile, patience, wisdom, and skills, but we take comfort in knowing she is now resting safely in the arms of her Savior, Jesus, and walking the streets of heaven with her husband, Mr. Charles Shackelford.

Survivors include her two daughters, Sheila Brown and her husband, Gerry, Nelda Green and her husband, Bobby, all of Cedartown; sister, Mary Frances "Sunny" Ash of Cedartown; brother-in-law, Tommy Shackelford of Spanish Fort, Alabama; sisters-in-law, Alice Stroup and Catherine Shackelford of Cedartown; four grandchildren, Rodney Brown and his wife, Nancy of LaGrange, Georgia, Todd Brown and his wife, Edie of Rockmart, Georgia, Tim Green, Lance Green and his wife, Shayne, all of Cedartown; four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Brown, T. J. Brown, Maris Green, David Brown, Jordan Brown, and Levi Green and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Willene Brown, Nancy Collier, and Pat Ford, very special friends at Southside Baptist Church, also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Brown officiating. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in Polk Memory Gardens with Rev. James Guy officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, December 2, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Tim Green, Lance Green, Brad Shelton, Jerry Collier, Bobby Brooks, David Ash, Benjamin Brown, T. J. Brown, David Brown, and Levi Green. Honorary pallbearers are Maris Green and Jordan Brown.
