Obituary

Mrs. Evelyn Speight Pruitt, age 98 of Cedartown, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014. She was born on April 14, 1916, in Haralson County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Alexander Speight and Sarah Elizabeth Davis Speight.

Mrs. Pruitt (Maw-Maw) was a devoted member of Lime Branch Baptist Church, and while she was in good health, she was a Sunday School teacher, active in the WMU and traveled with the Halleluiah Bunch. She also loved flowers and was an avid gardener, quilter and crocheter for most of her life.

Mrs. Pruitt is survived by her daughters and son-in-laws, Paula Pruitt Newman (Johnny) and Geraldine Pruitt Crowe (Harold); son and daughter-in-law, Phillip Pruitt (Mary); brothers, Robert Speight and Harmon Speight; sister-in-law, Marie Pruitt; 13 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Pruitt is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 54 years, Paul T. Pruitt; daughter, Florine Mobley; son, Travis Pruitt; and sisters, Mary Clay, Clara Bentley and Blanche Johnson.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Pruitt will be conducted on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at eleven o'clock in the morning at Lime Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy McGuire officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral hour at the church.

The family of Mrs. Pruitt will receive family and friends on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Scott Pruitt, Keith Pruitt, Chris Pruitt, Ryan Pruitt, Bobby Newman and Sammy Stephens.

The family of Mrs. Pruitt is accepting flowers; however, memorial donations can be made to the Lime Branch Baptist Church, Highway 100, Cedartown, GA 30125.
