Obituary

Mrs. Eva Ruth Gibson Short, age 82, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025. She was born on February 19, 1943 in Cherokee, Alabama.  She was the daughter of the late John Hubert and Eula Adell Lockridge Gibson.

Mrs. Short is survived by her sons, John Short (Mary) and Brad Short; grandchildren, Matt Bridges, Kayla Bridges, Katie Swafford (Drew) and Emma Hellriegel (Jake); great-grandchildren, Josie, Bo, Ella Ruth and Case Swafford and Chloe Hellriegel and nieces and nephews; and several other extended family members.

Mrs. Short is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Edward Short; daughter, Karen Denise Short Bridges; sisters, Louise Liner and Mary Frances Corn and brothers, Herbert Gibson and Wayne Gibson.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Short will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at one o'clock in the afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Kyle Camp officiating.  Interment will follow in the family lot of Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Short will receive family and friends on Thursday, December 11, 2025 from eleven o'clock in the morning until the funeral service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Bill Short, Sam Short, Dennis Alexander, Drew Swafford, Jake Hellriegel, Zack Alexander and Jay Liner.
