Mr. Erskine Lawrence "Butch" Gilliland, age 67, of Cedartown, GA passed away on May 17, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born April 11, 1945 in Walker Co., GA to the Late Ernest M. Gilliland and Vera Smith Gilliland.
Butch worked in the auto parts business for many years including the parts department at Al Brooks Ford. He loved nature and the outdoors. He was of the Baptist faith and of Cherokee descent.
Mr. Gilliland is survived by his wife of 48 years, Janice Gibby Gilliland; daughter, Dawn Gilliland Bright (Andy); granddaughters, Leah Bright Short (Justin) and Kaitlyn Bright all of Cedartown. Two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Graceanne Short also survive, along with a number of Nieces and Nephews.
He is preceded in death by brother, Kenneth H. Gilliland and sister, Juanice Gilliland Reynolds.
The funeral service for Mr. Erskine Lawrence "Butch" Gilliland will be on Sunday, May 20th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Brother Billy Vines and Pastor John Moates officiating. The interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 19th between the hours of 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Barry Bonds, Derrick Kines, Darrin Kines, Ken Rabe, Charles Lanier, and Chris Lanier.
