Mr. Elmer William Tanner, age 83, of Cedartown, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2009. He was born June 15, 1925 in Polk County, Georgia.
He was a veteran serving in the United States Navy and a retiree of General Motors.
Mr. Tanner is survived by children, Norma Terrell, Jeanette Smith, & Lewis Rutledge; and nephews, Dr. Jerry Weaver, Wayne Weaver, and Van Tanner. Nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter also survive.
Mr. Tanner is preceded in death by wife, Pearl Pitts Tanner; father, Lonnie Tanner; and mother, Nancy Stroup Tanner.
The funeral for Mr. Elmer William Tanner will be conducted on Monday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Elder Martin Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Northview Cemetery with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating.
Mr. Tanner's grandsons will serve as Pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 1, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Gammage Funeral Home. The family has requested that flowers be omitted and that any donations may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Mr. Elmer William Tanner.
