Obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Prewett Garmon, age 83, of Cedartown, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Saturday, December 2, 2017. She was born on February 28, 1934 in Cedartown, Georgia and was a lifelong resident of the community. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and Irene Cornelia Kuglar Prewett.

Mrs. Garmon graduated from Cedartown High School, she worked at NOP CO. Chemical Company, Rome Plow, and the Polk County Tag Office, and in the Voter Registrar's Office where she served as County Registrar for several years. She was a member of the Akes Station Home Demonstration Club, was an active member f the Pine Bower WMU, the Women of Georgia Power, the CHS Band Parents Club (for more than 10 years), the Brewster School PTA, and she supported her children in sports participation, clubs (she was among the first 4-H'ers in Georgia to attend camp at Rock Eagle), piano lessons, and band. As her children progressed through school she substitute taught at each school they attended. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was an expert seamstress, quilter, and a loving mother. Mrs. Garmon was also a member of Pine Bower Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher,VBS director, WMU president, youth leader, and even the janitor.

Mrs. Garmon is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Rita Garmon Carter (Vacel) and Joye Garmon Weeks (Richard); sons and daughters-in-law, Donald C. Garmon (LuAnn) and William A. Garmon (Lisa) all of Cedartown; brother, Jack Prewett (Sandra);13 grandchildren, Elijah Garmon (Melita), Jeremy Garmon, David Garmon (Lynda), Sarah Tolman (Jacob), Rebekah Baird (Zachary), Abel Garmon, Andrew Carter (Tamara), Anna Carter, Casey Garmon (Katie), Kerri Allred, Britney Weeks, Jason Weeks (Kellie), and Susan Morgan ; 26 great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs.Garmon is preceded in death by her loving husband Fay C. Garmon; parents; and brother, Albert Prewett.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Prewett Garmon will be held at Pine Bower Baptist Church on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 11 o'clock in the morning, with Rev. Michael Tanner and several family members officiating. Mrs. Garmon will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roger Kiser officiating.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, December 7, 2017 from 6 o'clock in the evening until 8 o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Mrs. Garmon's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.

The family respectfully requests that all floral contributions be omitted and that memorial donations be made to a children's charity of your choosing or to the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in her honor.
