Mr. Doyal Waylon Blackmon, age 60, of Cedartown passed away on Monday, August 6, 2007. He was born August 31, 1946 in Polk County. Mr. Blackmon was an United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam Conflict Era. He was a member of Youngs Grove Baptist Church and an employee of United Bank and Trust
Mr. Blackmon was active in the Boy Scouts Organization. He had previously held the position of Polk District Chairman for five years.
Mr. Waylon Blackmon is survived by wife, Mrs. Alice Rissmiller Blackmon; children, Michael and Heather Blackmon, Jonathan and Kellie Blackmon, and Tammy and Anthony Trawick; grandsons, Ethan Trawick and Brodie Blackmon; granddaughters, Sydney Blackmon, Halee Blackmon, Evie Blackmon; parents, George Delmar and Laura Willene Blackmon of Calhoun; brother, Eddie Blackmon; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Denny Cuzzort and Sheryl and Roger Serritt.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 8, from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Doyal Waylon Blackmon will be conducted on Thursday, August 9 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cedartown with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. The interment service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Timms officiating.
Pallbearers are James Bedford, Rev. Charlie Timms, Sonny Holder, Elbert Knight, Kelly Owens, Eddie Hilburn and Charles Knight.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Board Members and Employees of
United Bank and Trust.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mountain Home Baptist Church, 165 Mt. Home Loop, Cedartown or New Hope Fellowship, 363 Blance Rd., Cedartown or Worldview Baptist Church, 500 College Dr., Cedartown.
