Mr. Douglas V. Bentley, age 71, of Cedartown, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. He was born on September 30, 1943 in Cedartown. He was the son of the late Virgil Madison and Maggie Sue Ray Bentley.

Mr. Bentley, known as "Doug" worked on many projects for Polk County. Doug proudly served on the Polk County School Board from 1972-1974. He retired after 34 years from the First National Bank of Polk County. He also worked at Heritage Honda Automotive Company for 11 years as well as Floyd Medical Center for three years.

Mr. Bentley is survived by his wife, Adonna Rissmiller Bentley; daughters and son-in-laws, Tara and Brian Blankenship and Sandi and Stephen Puckett; sons and daughter-in-laws, Shannon and Nikki Bentley and Matt and Nicole Bentley; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Angela Bentley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alice and Art Williamson; grandchildren, Maggie Blankenship, Tori Blankenship, Sam-Wes Puckett, Micah Puckett, Abigail Bentley, Grace Bentley, Mary Paige Bentley, Ella Bentley, Maddie Bentley and Eli Bentley and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bentley is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, Jason Bentley; brother-in-law, Waylon Blackmon and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Sam and Edna Rissmiller.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. Douglas V. Bentley will be conducted on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at one o'clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Dr. David Taylor and Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Randy Stephens speaking.

The family of Mr. Bentley will receive family and friends on Wednesday, June 3, 2015 from six o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Flowers are being accepted; however, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 101 N. College Street, Cedartown, GA 30125.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Johnny Barrett, Glen Frasier, Jerry House, John Moore, Billy Joe Lewis, Jonathan Blackmon, Michael Blackmon, and Anthony Trawick. Honorary pallbearers will be the Class of 1961, Wade Jones, Johnny Stone, Cedartown "Throttle Jockies" Gary Fortenberry, Stan McCord, Eddie Hilburn, Phil Tuck, Phillip Reedy and Jim Mayben.
