Mr. Donald "Duck" Ward, age 74, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, April 04, 2011. He was born on October 18, 1936; Mr. Ward is from Esom Hill and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Lillie Allen Ward.
Mr. Ward is a Veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Donald Ward was a produce manager for Gerland's Grocery Store for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and he was baptized in Cedar Creek.
Mr. Donald Ward is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Willie Elizabeth Bright Ward; daughters, Donna Lynn Wilder and Marcene Cano; sons, Donald Ward, Jr., Robert Ward and Karl Allen Ward; sisters, June Brannon and Nellie Smith; brother, Robert Ward and five grandchildren, Isaac Wilder, Mary-Margaret Wilder, Arlin Cano, Zakary Cano and Joseph Cano.
Mr. Donald Ward is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Louise Coleman and brothers, Doyal Ward, Charles Ward, Bill Ward and Joe Ward.
The funeral service for Mr. Ward will be conducted on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at one o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Davis officiating.
The American Legion Post #86 is conducting full military rites. The United States flag is presented to the family, on behalf of the President of the United States of America in appreciation of Mr. Ward's loyalty to his country while serving in the United States Army.
Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Ward will receive friends on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from seven o'clock in the evening until nine o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The family is accepting flowers; however, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's' Association, Georgia Chapter, North Georgia Regional Office, 922 East Morris Street, Dalton, Georgia 30721.
The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers; Johnny Bright, Tim Bright and Josh Forrister.
