Mr. Larry Donald "Don" Johnson, age 64, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, peacefully after an extended illness.  He was born on August 26, 1956 in Macon, Georgia.  He was the son of the late Raymon E. Johnson and Martha Trinis Chapman Johnson.

Don was a loving father and a kind and generous friend.  No matter where he went or who was around, he never met a stranger.  From the waitress at the Waffle House to the teller at the bank no one was exempt from the little jokes he would share.

Upon graduating high school, Don found himself working at Georgia Power where he served forty years while simultaneously carrying on his family construction business.  He, his father, and his brothers built many marvelous homes all over Georgia and Florida.  In his off-time Don was an avid Tampa Bay Bucs fan and was blessed enough to get to see them win their most recent Superbowl in 2021.  He was also a master sportsman boasting racks and mounts from many trophy bucks.  He coached little league baseball and played softball.  In his retirement he spent many hours gardening and fixing up boats and four-wheelers.  He enjoyed listening to music, cookouts with his children and playing with his grandson, Levi.  He was a wonderful daddy and just as proud to be called Grandy.  His legacy will live on forever through his son, daughter, and grandson.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his son, Josh Johnson; daughter, Allison Cates (Ben); Grandy's precious grandson, Levi Cates; brother, Mike Johnson; sisters, Elaine Wright, Barbara English, Julie Johnson, Ginger Allen and Sherri Jelinek; step-mom, Jean Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral arrangements for Mr. Larry Donald "Don" Johnson will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at two o'clock in the afternoon from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Fetkenhour and Rev. Roger Hutchins officiating. Interment will follow in the Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family of Mr. Johnson will receive family and friends on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Clifford Ledbetter, Chris Dixon, Adam Dixon, Barry Bonds, Jeffrey Wright, and Jason Wright.  Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Wright, Scarlett Rooks, Rocky Tillery, and Paul Dewayne Waters.

With Dad's giving heart, at the end of his life, he was able to give the gift of sight.
