Mr. Derry "D.R." Nichols, age 62, of Cedartown passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2006. He was born March 1, 1944 in Polk County. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marines Corps. Mr. Nichols was an employee of Hon Industries.

Mr. Nichols is preceded in death by parents, Mildred "Sis" Rowell and William "Toby" Rowell; father-in-law, Albert Garrett.

Mr. Derry Nichols is survived by wife, Jane Nichols; son and daughter-in-law, Shane Nichols and Ashley Nichols; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Racine and Doug Racine; grandchildren, Drew Vann, Austin Vann, Gabby Racine, Whitnee Nichols; brother and sister-in-law, Terry Nichols and Shelby Nichols; mother-in-law, Dot Garrett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Winston Cook and Brenda Cook. A number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Derry "D.R." Nichols will be conducted on Sunday, March 26th, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage & Sons Funeral Home with Mr. Mark Garrett, Tiny Van Kleef, Brother Bill Heaton,and Mr. Kelly O'Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the American Legion Brewster-Cleveland Post #86 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Gammage Funeral Home on Saturday, March 25th from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

Pallbearers are Drew Vann, Austin Vann, Danny Little, Mike Worthington, Brad Cook, Pete Hutchings, Cody Nichols, Larry Johnston, and twin brother, Terry Nichols.

Honorary Pallbearers are Gabby Racine, Whitnee Nichols, John Bellurado, Winston Cook, Uncle Morris and Terry Parker.

Flowers will be accepted however donations may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Georgia Chapter, 3715 Northside Parkway, Bldg. 400, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30327.
