Mr. Delmer Ray Sanders, age 83, of Cedartown, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at his residence. He was born December 13, 1924 in Polk County.
Mr. Sanders was a member of The First Baptist Church of Cedartown. He can be remembered as a longtime owner and operator of Model Supermarket where he was dedicated to his loyal customers.
He is preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Allen Sanders and parents, Pink Sanders and Effie Ray Sanders.
Family members surviving are daughter, Ms. Kay Casey; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mike Isbell all of Cedartown; granddaughters, Mrs. Jennifer Herring and husband, Jason Herring, Mrs. Allison Ledbetter and husband, Shae Ledbetter; great grandchildren, Brett Ledbetter, Christian Ledbetter, Drew Ledbetter, and Evelyn Herring; sisters and brothers-in-law, Clara and Leonard House, Jean and Bob Simpson and a special friend, Catherine Williams. Step-sons, Steve Brown and David Brown and three step-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Delmer Ray Sanders will be conducted on Friday, January 4, at 11:00 in the morning in the sanctuary of The First Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Benefield. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral hour. Interment will be in the family lot at Northview Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Don Casey, Steve Brown, David Brown, David McDonald, Scott Simpson, Mark Simpson, Larry Bentley, Doug Bentley, and Randy Stephens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 3, from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
