Mr. Danny Lee Pounds, age 68, of Piedmont, Alabama, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 suddenly at his home. He was born February 11, 1945 in Jacksonville, Alabama to the late Alfred and Lula Belle Pounds.

He was a veteran having proudly served in the United States Army. He was a graduate of Cedartown High School Class of 1963 and a graduate of Jacksonville State University Class of 1970 where he played football at both schools. He taught school at Heard County High School in Franklin, Georgia. While there he formed the first football team and coached them to the State Championship. He also taught and coached at numerous other schools in Georgia and Alabama.

Mr. Pounds is survived by his wife, Peggy Pounds; son, Jedadiah Drew Pounds; sisters, Joan A. Hardin, Anna Smith; niece, Dana Hardin; and nephew, Vance Jedadiah Smith.

Mr. Pounds was cremated according to his wishes. A gravesite memorial service will be held at a later date at the Neal Hill Cemetery in Centre, Alabama.
