Mr. Clifton Thomas Wood, age 85, of Cedartown, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2016 at home with his family by his side. He was born on November 29, 1931, in Buchanan, Georgia. He was the son of the late Hollis T. Wood and Daisy Brown Wood.
Mr. Wood was a member of New Caanan Baptist Church and retired from G.E. after 38 years. He was also retired from the United States Navy. Mr. Wood was a member of Caledonia Lodge #121 and was an active member of the Cedar Valley Shrine Club until fallen ill. He served as past President, past vice President, past Clown Unit and the position he was most proud of was the honor of being a part of the Transport Unit. His love of God's creations of nature made him an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 61years, Mrs. Barbara Ann Mullinax Wood; daughter, Layne Wood Sanders; grandson, Aden Jiles; sister, Nora Wood Green of Carrollton; sister-in-laws, Carol Wood of Buchanan and Diane Miller of Shepherd, Texas and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Wood is preceded in death by his parents; son, Richard "Ricky" Gary Wood; sister, Ida Wood Patterson (Pat); brother, James Wood and brother-in-law, Carden Green.
The funeral arrangements for Mr. Clifton Thomas Wood will be conducted on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at eleven o'clock in the morning in the Gammage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel A. Smith officiating. Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Honor Guard Post #86. After the funeral, in keeping with Mr. Wood's wishes' he will be cremated.
The family of Mr. Wood will receive family and friends on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from five o'clock in the evening until seven o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
