Mr. Clark "Big Daddy" Sloman, age 80, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2009. He was born October 19, 1928 in Haralson County. His parents were the late Clarence Sloman and Irene Coalson Sloman, and brother, the late Boyce Sloman.
Mr. Sloman was a faithful member of Wilkerson Road Baptist Church for forty-seven years where he served as a deacon.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Mr. Clark "Big Daddy" Sloman is survived by wife, Jewell E. Sloman, to whom he was marred for sixty-one years and ten months.
Family also surviving are daughter, Kathy Vandiver; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Taylor; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Nancy Sloman; Brothers, Gerald Sloman and Bobby Sloman; grandchildren, Amber and Dorman Peterson, Suzann Vandiver, Brad and Jennifer Taylor; great grandchildren, Madison Hubbard, Izaak Taylor, Matthew Martin, Katelyn Taylor, Clay Martin, Chelsey Peterson and a "new baby to arrive soon" also survive.
The funeral service for Mr. Clark "Big Daddy" Sloman will be conducted on Sunday, January 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Wilkerson Road Baptist Church in Rome with Rev. David Fincher and Rev. Milford Williams officiating. The interment will follow in Northview Cemetery in Cedartown.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home in Cedartown.
Pallbearers are Brad Taylor, Dorman Peterson, John Peoples, Larry Broome, Barry Davis, David Sloman, Izaak Taylor, Matthew Martin, and Clay Martin. Honorary pallbearers are Raydon Jones and Members of New Prospect Baptist Church in Rockmart and Members of Wilkerson Road Baptist Church Men's Bible Class.
The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Clark "Big Daddy" Sloman.
