Mrs. Clara Lee Welchel, age 82, of Cedartown, GA passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011. She was born April 14, 1929 in Polk County, the daughter of the late William M. and Wealthey M. Tuck Lee.
Mrs. Welchel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Cooper Welchel; son, James Ray Welchel, Sr., brothers and sisters, Edd Lee, C. W. Lee, Allen Lee, Carl Lee, Mary Carnes; grandchild, Ashley Rebecca Truett.
Mrs. Welchel is survived by sons, Billy Welchel and wife Clarice, Lewis Welchel; daughter-in-law, Lorene Welchel; brother, J. B. Lee; sister, Sarah Redden; grandchildren, Jim and Donna Welchel, Pee-wee Welchel, Bill and Stephanie Welchel, Jean and Glen Farrister, Donna and Jesse Pyles, Charlotte Welchel. Eighteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service for Mrs. Clara Lee Welchel will be conducted on Friday, September 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Beck officiating. Interment will follow in Sanders Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday, September 21st and 22nd from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. each night.
Pallbearers are Bill Welchel, Jim Welchel, Pee-wee Welchel, Jesse Pyles, Mike Gable, Randal Shuemake, Jackie Ledford, and Warren Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Welchel, Dooley Welchel, and Brad Truett.
