Mrs. Clara Shell McGatha, age 88, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019.  She was born on April 21, 1931 in Piedmont, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Winford Shell and Blanche McFry Shell.

Mrs. Clara McGatha is survived by her daughters; Clarice Welchel, Rita Faye Ledford, Cindy Brown, Gail Gable (Michael) and Lisa McGatha; sons, Oliver Dale McGatha and Stevie McGatha (Debbie); sisters, Shelby Shell and Ora Sims; brother,  R.C. Shell; 27 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive .

Mrs. McGatha is preceded in death by; her parents; husband, Oliver McGatha, son, Winford  Joe McGatha; daughter, Denise "Fatso" Warren; grandson, Richard Joel Beck; son-in-laws, Billy Wayne Welchel, Sr. and Jackie Ledford; grandson, William Jeremy Beck; brother, Wendell Shell; sisters, Maragaret Wallace, Amber Buttrum, Wilma Ruth Stewart, and Betty Sue Shell.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Clara Shell McGatha will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. John Redding officiating.  Interment will follow in the Valley View Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. McGatha will receive family and friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 from twelve o'clock in the afternoon until the funeral hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Chris McGatha, Barry Brown, Josh Brown, Cody Ledford, Dalton Welchel, Bill Welchel, and Phillip Beck. Honorary pallbearer will be J.T. George.
