Mr. Charlie Van Carter, age 73, of Cedartown passed away Monday, July 28, 2008. He was born July 15, 1935 in Cedartown, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
Family members surviving are Wife, Shirley Tenpenny Carter; Daughter and Son-in-law, Pama and Doug Lee; Son and Daughter-in-law, Joe Morgan II and Shannon Carter; Grandchildren, Erin Carter Brock, Joe Morgan Carter III, Carson Olin Lee, and Kendall Faye Lee; Great-grandchildren,, Sarah Abigail Brock and Susen Aubrey Brock. Also surviving are Brother and Sister-in-law, Jack and Nelda Carter; Sister and Brother-in-law, Ruby and Van Dingler; Sister and Brother-in-law, Sonja and Bill Frasier; Sister, Joyce Rutledge; Sister and Brother-in-law, JoAnne and Julian Norris; a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carter is preceded in death by Son, Ricky Van Carter; Parents, Joe and Della Redding Carter; Sister-in-law, Sue Carter; and Brother-in-law, Johnny Rutledge.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Charlie Van Carter will be conducted on Thursday, July 31st at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Frasier officiating. The interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens with full military rites being conducted by the Brewster-Cleveland American Legion Post #86 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Dennis Carter, George Van Dingler, Jeff Dingler, Billy George Frasier, David Frasier, Randy Rutledge, Clint Rutledge, and Chris Norris.
