Mr. Charles William Ward, age 62, of Cedartown, passed away at his residence on Philpot Street, after a short illness.

He served his country with twenty years of Military Service in the Air Force and Army. During this time he served in Germany, Korea and Vietnam where he fought for his country. He was very dedicated to our country and received numerous awards for his outstanding accomplishments.

He was born July 18, 1949 in Cedartown. He graduated for Cedartown High School in 1966. He was the son of the late Charles Thomas Ward and his biological mother, Evelyn Kile. He was the grandson of the late Charles Franklin Ward and Lillie Allen Ward. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Louise Ward Colman; uncles, Bill, Joe, Doyal and Donald Ward.

Survivors include Nellie Ward Smith, June Ward Brannon, and aunt, Wanda Ward. Also Evelyn, Elizabeth, Ann and Rhonda Ward and one uncle, Bob Ward. Also surviving are numerous relatives.

He was cremated, and will have a graveside service at the family plot at Polk Memory Gardens, in the Gethsemene Garden, at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2012 with full military rites with Rev. R.B. Hulsey speaking and lifetime friend of Charles and family.

It was in his presence at Friendly Baptist Church that Charles received Christ, and became a born again Christian.
