Mr. Charles Van Dingler, lovingly known as "Catfish" Dingler, age 76, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born November 27, 1932 in Polk County, Georgia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Dingler.

He was the owner and operator of Dingler Motors for many years in Cedartown. Mr. Dingler became well known and loved throughout the community. "Catfish" returned his love for community by serving as a County Commissioner for one term. He was a dedicated member of the Caledonia Masonic Lodge #121 and a Shriner in the Yaarab Shrine. As a member of the Cedar Valley Shrine Club "Catfish", in his younger years, was a member of the Motor Corps, participating in the Motorcycle and Go-Jo Parade Units.

Mr. Charles Van "Catfish" Dingler is survived by wife of 52 years, Ruby Carter Dingler; children, Cathy Brown and husband, Lee; sons, Van and wife, Cindy; Jeff and wife, Jill; brother, Hoyt Dingler. Seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by parents, George Alexander Dingler and Martha Abney Dingler.

The funeral service for Mr. Charles Van "Catfish" Dingler will be conducted on Tuesday, March 10th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Payne officiating and Rev. Billy Frasier closing. The interment service will follow in Polk Memory Gardens. Masonic Rites will be conducted at the graveside by Caledonia Masonic Lodge #121 and the West Georgia Memorial Club.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 9th, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Mr. Dingler's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
