Mr. Charles Edward "Skeetz" Blythe, age 82, of Rome formerly of Cedartown passed away on Monday, February 26, 2007 after a sudden illness. He was born on April 26, 1924 in Cherokee County, Alabama.

Mr. Blythe was a member of the Cedartown Church of God.

He was a Veteran of World War II where he served as an operator of a harbor craft in the U. S. Army 429th Harbor Craft Company and also served 31 years in the Georgia Army National Guard. Mr. Blythe was retired from the United States Postal Service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Edward and Hasteen Waddell Blythe; a brother, Robert A. Blythe; and a nephew, Mark Blythe.

Mr. Blythe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia "Jenny" Dean Blythe. Also surviving are son, Michael E. Blythe and Terry Higgs, Carrollton, Georgia; son, Kenneth C. and Kathy Blythe, Silver Creek, Georgia; and daughter, Ann B. and Don Gore, of Rome, Georgia; a brother, Arthur H. "Cork" and Jerry Blythe; nieces Lesa Bonnell and Lynn Dorsey, of the Atlanta area.

The legacy of Mr. Blythe lives on in his five grandchildren, Kristi Blythe Rose and husband Jim, Karla Blythe Crabbe and husband Scott, Wesley Blythe and wife Brittanny, Melissa Blythe Roberson and husband Brad, and Kevin Blythe and wife Jill. He also has 5 great-grandchildren, Catherine Roberson, Kodiak Crabbe, Blythe Crabbe, Mallory Rose and Thomas Roberson.

Funeral services for Charles Edward "Skeetz" Blythe will be conducted on Friday, March 2, 2007, at the Cedartown Church of God. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday and the funeral service will follow immediately at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Polk Memory Gardens.
