Mrs. Catherine Colquitt Shackelford, "Mer" age 87, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2019. She was born on October 30, 1931, in Cedartown. She was the daughter of the late John T and Annie Liddelle West Colquitt.
Mrs. Shackelford is survived by her son, Len Shackelford; daughters, Delle Copeland (Justin), Leigh Burell and Beth Branch; grandchildren, Katie Burell, Allen Copeland (Amy), Carol Carlton (Brad), Molly Jones (Jimmy), John Ross Branch, Ross Shackelford (Chelsea) Marianna Birdsong (Ben) and Sam Branch; ten great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Frances Colquitt; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Shackelford is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard Ross Shackelford, Sr.; twin brother, Joe E. Colquitt; brother, John T. Colquitt; and sisters, Nelle Casey, Ruth Owings, Elizabeth Godwin and Sara Wray.
The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Catherine Colquitt Shackelford will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown with Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating and eulogies given by Mrs. Shackelford's grandchildren. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral hour at the church. Interment will follow in the Northview Cemetery.
The family of Mrs. Shackelford will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from five o'clock in the evening until seven o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Allen Copeland, John Ross Branch, Ross Shackelford, Sam Branch, Jimmy Jones, Brad Carlton, Ben Birdsong and Joey Colquitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Colquitt and Jerry Stroup.
The family is accepting flowers; however, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Cedartown Memorial Fund, 101 North College Street, Cedartown, GA 30125, or a charity of your choice.
