Mrs. Carolyn Louise Jackson Gowens, age 72, of Cedartown passed away on Thursday, January 31, 2008 after an extended illness. She was born December 13, 1935, in Polk County, the daughter of the late William Corbin Jackson and the late Thelma Lourine Philpot Jackson.

Mrs. Gowens attended The Silver Creek Church of God.

Family members surviving are husband, Harvey E. Gowens; daughters, Syconda Mullinax and Sharon Wilkie; sisters, Carleen Bagley and Catherine Eaves; brothers, Coye Jackson, Charles Jackson, Larry Jackson, and Jimmy Jackson. Grandchildren, Nikki Mullinax, Joshua Mullinax, Stacy Watters, Scotty Lockridge and great-grandchildren, Kailyn Watters and Bryson Watters also survive.

Mrs. Gowens is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert "Sonny Boy" Jackson.

The funeral service for Mrs. Carolyn Gowens will be conducted on Saturday, February 2 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Rhodes and Rev. Elgin Williams officiating. The interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends beginning one hour prior to the funeral service at the Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Mark Watters, Kevin Watters, Bart Gowens, Kevin Gowens, Dirk Hill, and Bryan Eaves.

The family has requested that flowers are accepted, however, donations be made to Church of God Smoky Mountain Home for Children, 449 McCarn Circle, Sevierville, TN 37864.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Carolyn Louise Jackson Gowens.
