Obituary

Mrs. Carole Ann Hampton Johnson, age 77, of Cedartown, Georgia passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023.  She was born September 1, 1945 in Floyd County.  She was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Lynn Sargent Hampton.

Mrs. Johnson was a dedicated member of New Harmony Baptist Church. She taught 1 st and 2 nd Grade Sunday School classes  and was responsible for organizing and completing the church bulletin until her sickness. Carole retired from Cedartown Arrow shirt factory, and Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center. She also worked as office manager for Dr. Brad Ward in Taylorsville and Dr. David Childs in Rome.

Mrs. Johnson  is survived by her husband of 48 years, David F. Johnson; son, David "Davey" Johnson (Eva); daughters, Cindy Johnson and Kim Marchbanks (Richard); grandchildren, Juliette Johnson, Trevor McElwee (Cade), Jeremy Ledbetter (Caitlin), Brad Marchbanks (Leah) and Hannah Marchbanks; great grandchildren, Caiston & Rigleigh McElwee, Layla & Aubrey Marchbanks and Hunter Richard Allen Marchbanks . A number of nieces, nephews also survive.

Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles Gary "Buddy" Hampton, grandchildren; Stephanie Ledbetter, Eric Ledbetter, Jackson Marchbanks and niece; Dana Hampton.

The family of Mrs. Johnson will receive family and friends on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.

The funeral arrangements for Mrs. Carole Ann Hampton Johnson will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 at two o'clock in the afternoon at the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Drake officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers; Trevor McElwee, Jeremy Ledbetter, Todd Hooper, Freddie Giles, Ken Rowell and Grady McCrickard.  Jessie Hamrick will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The family has respectfully requested that flowers be omitted; donations can be made to the New Harmony Baptist Church.
