Mr. Carl Edward "Billy" Redding, Sr., age 82, of Cedartown passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at his residence. He was born August 12, 1925 in Haralson County, Georgia to parents William Edgar Redding and Annie Bell Redding.
He retired after thirty-eight years from the Goodyear Mill where he worked as a Mechanic.
Mr. Billy Redding was a founder-trustee and faithful member of Faith Baptist Church.
Mr. Redding is survived by wife, Margie Jackson Redding, to whom he was married to for fifty-four years. Also surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Reba and Jimmy Betts; daughter, Brenda Gilbert; son and daughter-in-law, Carl R. and Nancy Redding; son, Carl Edward Redding, Jr.; brother, Clyde Redding. Survivors also include grandchildren, Tisha and Rusty Spann; Jonathan Redding, Carla and Tim Danko, and Christen Nixon, Kerry Gilbert, Kyle Gilbert, Tonya Redding, and Tadd Redding; great-grandchildren Seth Spann, Jacob Spann, Jessie Brown, and Dylan Danko and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Billy Redding is preceded in death by eleven sisters and brothers.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 7, from six until nine o'clock at the Gammage Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 8 at two o'clock in the afternoon at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Tucker, Rev. Earl Partain,and Rev. Blake Dodd officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Interment will be in Northview Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Eddie Redding, Ted Redding, Steve Redding, David Willingham, Mike Whitfield, Randy Stephens, Greg Swafford, and Kevin Cook.
Honorary Pallbearers are Albert Wells and Leo Cuzzort.
Flowers will be accepted, however, donations may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 712 Smith Ave., Cedartown, GA 30125.
The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements for Mr. Carl Edward "Billy" Redding. Sr.
