Ms. Brenda Joyce Richardson, age 68, of Cedartown, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016. She was born on September 24, 1947 in Blount County, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late D.L. Richardson and Maragem Lowry Richardson.
Ms. Brenda graduated from Cedartown High School in 1965 and continued on to Shorter College, where she graduated in 1969 with a BA in Biology. She taught at Brewster Elementary in Polk County and Linley Junior High and Pebble Brook High School in Cobb County where she retired in 2000. She was nominated for teacher of the year by the Business Professional Women Association of Cobb County. She is a member and former president and community service leader of the Polk Retired Education Association of Polk County. Ms. Brenda was a lifelong member of Pine Bower Baptist Church.
Ms. Richardson is survived by her sisters, Lynda Deese, Jackie Mosley and Patti Dunagan (Bruce); brother, Donnie Richardson; sister-in-law, Debra Richardson; nieces and nephews, Colby Deese, Allissia Deese, Chad Garner, Jamie Mosley, Jeremy Richardson, Erica Brown and Kelley Richardson and great-nieces and nephews, Trenton Garner, Trista Garner, Ellie Mosley, Harper Mosley, Tye Davis, M.J. Brown and Adrianna Deese.
Ms. Richardson is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Randy Richardson and Wayne Richardson.
The funeral arrangements for Ms. Brenda Joyce Richardson will be conducted on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the Chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in the Pine Bower Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family of Ms. Richardson will receive family and friends on Saturday, September 3, 2016 from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock in the evening at the Gammage Funeral Home.
