Bishop David R. Huskins, of Cedartown, GA passed away on Monday, August 25, 2014. He was born on July 10, 1967 to John Astor Huskins and Betty Woodall of White, GA. A resident of Cedartown, GA, he pastored Cedar Lake Christian Center since 1986.

A very active community individual, Bishop Huskins was given the key to the City of Cedartown in 1992. He was also given the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award from Cedartown, GA in 2008; served on the City Council in White, GA and was granted the Outstanding Citizens Service Award from White, GA in 1981; receive the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congressman Bob Barr in 1985; served as a member of Bartow County Board of Elections and was founding director of Polk County Boys and Girls and Girls Club.

Bishop Huskins was presented an Honorary Doctorate of Education Degree by Universal Faith Kingdom Academy in September 1990. He finished his Doctorate of Theology in Biblical Studies in 1998 from Florida Theological Seminary. He was bestowed a Doctorate of Divinity degree in October 2004 by Saint Thomas Christian College. Bishop Huskins believed education is the key to breaking dividing walls; therefore, he was chancellor of Vineyard Harvester Christian Academy and the chairman of the board of regents of Vineyard Harvester Bible College. He served as the Presiding Bishop of the International Communion of Charismatic Churches since 2005 ministering in hundreds of churches around the world. Most recently, Bishop Huskins founded The GLOBE in Stockbridge, GA. He also served on numerous other boards and committees.

He was the author of "The Power of a Covenant Heart" and "The Purpose of a Covenant Heart", released by Destiny Image Publishers and his most recent, "Grace Shift" published by Blaze Publishing.

Bishop Huskins was preceded in death by his father, John Astor Huskins. He is survived by his mother, Betty Woodall of White, GA; his four sons, Llaerton Michael of Cedartown, David Aaron of Reno, Nevada, Zachary Caleb of Manhattan, New York, NY and Jeremy Isaac of Cedartown; his brother, Dennis Huskins of White, GA and his sister, Shellie Millsaps of White, GA.

Visitation with the family will be on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, at the Cedar Lake Christian Center. The Celebration of His Life and Legacy will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 11:00am at the church, 1890 Rome Hwy, Cedartown, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to The Huskins' Boys Fund account at the SunTrust Bank in Cedartown, GA.
